Grauhund Weimaraners
What is New

Our hilarious attempt to get a photo of all the dogs for the Searching for the Silver grey book. Ripple got the sack and ended up in the trailer so she missed out.

We haven't had any shows for a few weeks because I have to rely on handlers and I can only go to the shows that Shellie goes to so that is a bit restricting. Hopefully we will be back in the swing again next weekend.
------------------------------

I went to the specialist on Monday which was a follow up after my hamstring surgery and I have to take it easy for 6 weeks then the physio starts and hydrotherapy work. It is very frustrating not being able to do things. I cannot believe I have been walking around with my hamstring more than 50% off the bone. It is a terrible operation and very difficult to sit down. Things can only get better each day.
Thank you to everyone who has been helping me.

SATURDAY 21ST FEBRUARY

I have got the sack from showing my dogs according to my two daughters. Saturday Shellie showed Cricket and got RU in Group and Aust. Bred in Group and Sunday she got the breed with Cricket but had to give her to Aly Aslin to show in specials because it clashed with Group 7 specials and Shellie had got BOB with Pebbles. Shellie got the Group and Aly got the Group with Cricket. Over in the Group 1 ring Jacqui was busy getting the Group with Oliver so a threesome once again. Jacqui went BIS with Oliver a great weekend.

Unfortunately after breaking down at the Weimaraner Champ show in September I have been unable to run and would like to thank all of the people who have helped me show my dogs. I have torn the hamstring 90% off the bone and will be having it stitched back sometime this month. I will be out of action for awhile but my dogs will still be shown thanks to my wonderful family and friends.
_______________

We had a very big weekend with the Gundog Club Show on Saturday 31st October. Judge: was Mr. O. Nielsen (Can) and Mr. S, Hollings from Gunalt Weimaraners in England did BIS. Cricket was BOB, Boomer Dog CC and R/U BOB. Cricket went Aust. Bred in Show.
The next show was Victorian Womens Dog Club - Patsy Hollings did the breed and Boomer was BOB and his son Kraftighund Moss R/U Bob, Cricket was bitch CC. Nothing in group.
The last show was Sunbury with a massive entry of 2,600 dogs. The judge was Stephen Hollings doing the breed and Patsy doing the group. Boomer was BOB again and his son R/U BOB - Cricket was bitch CC.

____________

Cricket and Boomer went tracking in the weekend and Cricket has gained her 3 passes for her TD in three trials, Boomer has his second pass. Both were graded Very Good. Thank you to Brett Coventry who did the handling. Cross fingers for the next trial with Boomer.

Since our wonderful weekend in Canberra we have continued to blitz the showring with Cricket. From 4 shows she has won - 2 BIG's, 1 BIS. 1 R/UIS. 4 ABIG & 3 ABIS wins a fantastic result. The Gundog group in Victoria is very strong with some top BIS winning dogs, to get through for BIS is even harder. Sat 4th April Cricket beat the top winning Terrier in the state who has had  3 BIS's in a row quite an achievement for a Weimaraner and especially a bitch.  Keep up the good work Cricket.

UPDATE ON  FIRES  IN  VICTORIA

FIRSTLY I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE RUNG, OR EMAILED ME TO SEE IF WE ARE OKAY. AT THE MOMENT WE ARE OKAY BUT IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE WIND DIRECTION. IT IS A VERY TENSE AND EMOTIONAL TIME FOR EVERYONE IN THIS STATE AND OUR THOUGHTS ARE OUT TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE LOST THEIR HOMES AND ANIMALS.

SPECIAL THOUGHTS GO TO THE FAMILY OF ONE OF OUR DOGGY FAMILIES WITH ALASKAN MALAMUTES. ALL FOUR MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY AND ALL THE ANIMALS PERISHED IN THE FIRES. THERE ARE  MANY WHO HAVE LOST HOMES AND DOGS IN THE FIRES AND EVERYONE IS RALLYING TO HELP THOSE IN NEED.

AT THE MOMENT WE ARE SAFE BUT THAT COULD CHANGE.

CAROL

Another good weekend at Kyneton and the Park with two more BOB's and R/U in Group for Cricket.

Sunbury is the biggest show apart from the Royal and drew an entry of 2,200 dogs. At Vic Womens and Sunbury Cricket also won Aust. Bred in Group.

GENERAL SPECIALS DAY:

First group judged was the Gundog Group and Cricket made the cut of 8. The judge took forever to make here decision and the GSP went 4th. the Pointer 3rd, Cricket 2nd and the Irish Setter 1st.
The judge told me when I was having my photo taken that she couldn't make up her mind between the Irish and the Wei for her 1st in group. So close.

Next was the Toy Group and Jacqui went in with her Cavalier puppy and she got PUPPY IN GROUP. Straight in with Josh for the Group and she made the cut. Then the placings were made and she got 2nd in group too. Very exciting.

The second last group to be judged was the Non-Sporting Group and Shellie was in with Pebbles. The cut was made and Pebbles was in. The big worry was the toy poodle who was gorgeous. The winners were named and the toy poodle was 2nd, Shellie got such a shock that she dropped her bait because we all thought he would win. The announcement came and Pebbles was the No 1 dog. It was a very exciting moment.

There was a break after the completion of judging for the handlers and I had to settle Emily down who was having an Emily moment. We had had several training sessions throughout the week and she was handling well. She handled Lana who is not an easy dog to show and did an excellent job. She really had to work hard with her. Apart from her flicking head, trying to fix her shoulder strap and pulling down her knickers she won the handlers. I was besides myself, the hard work had paid off. I am very proud of her.

Then came General Specials. After each dog had been judged the judge Ramon Podesta (Chile) made his announcement from 4th place to 1st. 4th was the Irish Setter, 3rd was the Pug, 2nd the Sheltie and 1st and Best in Show the Dalmatian. The crown went crazy and so did we.
